THE STANDARD: Disqualifications
There are five (5) Disqualifications in the standard for the Neapolitan Mastiff:
Absence of Massiveness
Absence of wrinkles and folds
Absence of dewlap
Lack of tail or short tail which is less than 1/3 the length from point of insertion of the tail to the hock.
Solid white markings on the head and extensive solid white markings on any parts of the body not mentioned as allowed.
Commentary
The first three disqualifications relate directly to the importance of Wrinkle and Mass in the proper Mastino.
A dog without Massiveness is not a proper Mastino and should not be in the show ring and should not be bred.
A dog without Wrinkles and Folds is not a proper Mastino and should not be in the show ring and should not be bred.
A dog without a Dewlap is not a proper Mastino and should not be in the show ring and should not be bred.
The last two disqualifications relate to breeding practices which cause progressive problems in any breeding program.
