BREED METRICS AND GROWTH

This sectoin shows the registration metrics for dogs and litters as compiled by the US Neapolitan Mastiff Club.

The USNMC kept a breed registry from 1991 until the data and paperwork were turned over to the AKC effective September 1, 2000. These metrics reflect only the dogs registered by the USNMC. The USNMC registry was without a doubt the largest breed-specific organization and registry for the Neapolitan Mastiff in this country.

The first figure shows USNMC dog registrations from 1994 to 2000. (note that the 2000 figure reflects only eight months of activity.)

The USNMC accepted paperwork from any FCI-recognized registry, as well as from the AKC's FSS. The USNMC also accepted paperwork from the ANMA (American Neapolitan Mastiff Association) a former competitor club which used similar validaiton procedures to the USNMC. The ANMA ceased operations in 1996.

Since 1997, 96% of USNMC registration paperwork was based upon its own registration applicatoins. This shows a strong breeding foundation for the breed in this country.

As of September 1, 2001, we had 6546 records on our database with a total of 3119 USNMC-registered dogs. We had recorded Mastini in 47 of the 50 states (missiong only Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

USNMC Dogs Registrations

In nine years, the USNMC processed over 800 litters. Even more startling, in the same time, the USNMC issued over 5000 pupy papers.

(note again, the 2000 figures shown reflect only 8 months of activity.)

Note about average litter size: Mastini have litters ranging in size from 1-2 to over 15. While litters are not unknown, they are unusual.

The overall average litter size for all litters registered with the USNMC is 6.1.
