After reviewing and taking into consideration comments from AKC, Judges-L has revised its policy on Show Chairs asking for judges on the List. Darrell Hayes, VP Judges Approval for AKC, was contacted and asked for a clarification on the solicitation rule for judges. His comments are below:
He was then asked to clarify the statement "Show Chairman's global e-mail request". His reply as follows:
We believe that this is succinctly clear for all. There will be, however, VERY STRICT GUIDELINES for Judges-L in regards to the above. Show Chairs may request a judge that is needed for their panels. Foreign Kennel Clubs may request judges to contact them for assignments abroad.
A requesting Show Chair MUST ask for private responses from judges, and MUST include their e-mail address in the BODY of the text.
To protect yourself from this happening, DO make sure that you look at the "To:" line of your e-mail you are sending. If you see 'Judges-L' referenced anywhere at all, delete it. Make sure you change the address of your e-mail to go to the person intended and NOT to the list. REMEMBER, we are all responsible for our own actions. Ignorance of computer matters will not be an excuse. Negligence in this matter WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. If you are unsure as to how you change the address in your e-mail, please feel free to contact any of the list administrators. We will be happy to help you. Thank you, The Judges-L ADMIN TEAM
