THE BASSET HOUND

CONCLUSION

"In conclusion, I would just like to say that the Basset Hound, an achondroplastic breed, should be "heavier in bone, size considered, than any other breed of dog". Because of their weight and build, the Basset Hound Club of America asks that Bassets never be judged on a table. It is recommended that when you have a large entry of Bassets to judge at a show, that you use a ramp. If you haven't used one, you should really try it. They are wonderful back savers for judges and exhibitors alike and, almost without exception, Basset exhibitors are happy when they are used. We are very pleased that AKC now states that ramps are to be available at all shows for use by judges at their discretion."
